Notes to Members

This site is dedicated to those men and women, who selflessly give of their time and resources to help those in need, any time of day or night in all weather conditions.

Search and rescue volunteers purchase and maintain their own equipment and take time off work without compensation. Team equipment and training is a resource through each team's ability to raise their own funds, or through limited and frequently dwindling state funds.

Who are we?

1. A person or persons formally certified by a professional body or belonging to a specific profession by virtue of having completed a required course of studies and/or practice. And whose competence can usually be measured against an established set of standards.

2. Person who has achieved an acclaimed a level of proficiency in a calling or trade.

Are we profesionals or volunteers?

I would propose that a volunteer does not, necessarily, need training to perform a job or function in the area that they might donate his or her time. The difference is the level of training, dedication, or commitment that these units perform their tasks. I believe we are unpaid professionals, like Fire or EMS.
